Another Independence Day alum is officially back for Roland Emmerich's sequel

Though Will Smith opted not to return for the new Independence Day sequel, director Roland Emmerich is assembling just about everyone else from the hit 1990s sci-fi film.

The latest addition: Vivica A. Fox, who played Jasmine in the original film. She was the girlfriend-then-wife to Will Smith’s character and mother to Dylan Dubrow. Dylan was played by Ross Bagley in the original and will be portrayed by Jessie Usher in the upcoming sequel. We’d imagine he’ll essentially be keeping the alien-fighting in the family and taking over some of the role that was conceived for Smith.

Fox joins fellow ID4 alum Jeff Goldblum in returning for the sequel, and rumors abound that Bill Pullman, aka former President Whitmore, will also be back. New additions to the cast include Liam Hemsworth and Charlotte Gainsbourg. It seems Emmerich is putting together a nice mix of new and old faces for the sequel, and he's gone ahead and hit the "Hemsworth Requirement" for any movie shot this decade.
