Patrick Stewart reveals plans for Professor X team-up in future Wolverine film

Patrick Stewart is always a chatty fellow, and he might’ve just dropped a ton of new intel in regards to future X-Men film sequels — from Apocalypse to beyond.

First up, Stewart reiterated that it’s “very unlikely” he’ll show up in X-Men: Apocalypse, which makes sense, considering the timeline would fit more with James McAvoy’s younger version of the characters. But that doesn’t mean we won’t be seeing the older version of Magneto. That’s right — Stewart says Ian McKellen “is certainly going to be in it.”

Is he trolling us? We don’t really know, but we wouldn’t put anything past Bryan Singer and company when it comes to melding all these universes together. X-Men: Days of Future Past was a masterful tapestry that retconned and reconnected a decade of mish-mashed films, so we’d think they could certainly work this one out.

Even better: Stewart revealed the studio is apparently eyeing another Wolverine film (no surprise) that would team up Stewart with Hugh Jackman in an unspecified story. That sounds like a lot of fun, and that’s a duo you haven’t gotten to see in action too terribly often in recent years:

“And what I'm very excited about is that we have been talking about a Wolverine movie, which would team Hugh Jackman and myself together. Wolverine and Professor Xavier. That would be a very different sort of ‘X-Men’ from the four movies that I've already done.”

The Wolverine righted the ship in regard to spinoff films, and bringing in some of the main cast would be a great way to shine a light on those relationships in a new way outside the team dynamic.

What do you think? Would you like to see this come to fruition?
