Young Justice joins the fight in new clip from this week's Teen Titans Go!

It's been nearly two years since Young Justice went off the air after two critically acclaimed seasons at Cartoon Network, and even in that short span of time the state of DC Animation has shifted. Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Beware the Batman are also gone, most of the more serious DC Comics-inspired animation is coming to us in the form of feature-length direct-to-video adaptations of comic books (not that there's anything wrong with that), and the only DC animated series left standing on Cartoon Network for the time being is Teen Titans Go!

Though Cartoon Network didn't deem it worthwhile to bring the show back for a third season, Young Justice still ranks as one of the best superhero shows in recent memory, praised for its diverse cast and ambitious storytelling. Though it exists outside of the continuity of the DC Animated Universe that brought us Batman: The Animated Series and Justice League, it still delivered a similar sensibility, emphasizing serious (but still fun) superhero storytelling that could satisfy both children and adults.

Teen Titans Go!, on the other hand, takes a more comedic approach to its characters and plots, and spends less time on superheroics and more on teenage antics. Like Young Justice and other DC shows before it, it has fans of all ages, but it's definitely aimed more directly at younger viewers, and it's left many fans of DC animation longing for past triumphs. Well, this week we get a little of that back in the form a Young Justice/Teen Titans Go! crossover.

Fittingly, the Titans episode "Let's Get Serious" will focus on Robin and the rest of his team trying to devote more time to serious world-saving after watching Young Justice and how seriously they take their own superheroics. Last week we saw some footage from the episode that featured Aqualad lecturing Robin on what it really means to be a superhero, and today we've got a brand-new clip that reveals Young Justice's first entry into the Teen Titans Go! world. As you'll see, Robin is in the midst of a dramatic speech to the members of H.I.V.E., while his fellow Titans are proving ... distracting. That all changes when Aqualad, Superboy and Miss Martian hit the scene. Check it out:

"Let's Get Serious" airs Thursday at 6 p.m. (5 Central) on Cartoon Network, and while it might only serve to make you miss Young Justice more, at least it's better than nothing new from these characters at all.
