Watch the amazing 'Everything Is Awesome' LEGO Movie performance from the Oscars

Many fans were irked earlier this year when it was announced that the almost universally acclaimed The LEGO Movie didn't earn an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature. It was easily one of the year's biggest snubs, but the film did go on to win the BAFTA for Best Animated Feature, and co-director Philip Lord sent out a perfect response to the lack of an Oscar nod.

The LEGO Movie did manage to get an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song, though, for the impossibly catchy "Everything Is Awesome," and that meant the film got to have its moment in the Oscar spotlight last night as the song was performed. Well, in true LEGO Movie fashion, the performance was creative, energetic and perhaps the most fun moment of the entire night. It started with a choir of LEGO figures, then transitioned to a live performance by Tegan and Sara and the Lonely Island, with help from Questlove, Mark Mothersbaugh and, oh yeah, Will Arnett as Batman (apparently wearing Val Kilmer's old Batman Forever suit).

The performance was so big that it spilled off the stage and into the audience, where dancers dressed as construction workers and astronauts handed out LEGO Oscar statues to Oprah Winfrey, Steve Carell, Emma Stone and more. The LEGO figures were even around after the ceremony.

Alas, "Everything Is Awesome" lost the Best Original Song award to the moving "Glory" from Selma, but at least we got this awesome moment. Check out the performance below.
