Leonard Nimoy tries to save us from Y2K in bizarre, vintage New Year's Eve PSA

As you prepare to drink, sleep or party in 2015 tonight, how about a blast from the past courtesy of Spock’s alter ego, Leonard Nimoy?

It’s hard to believe, but 14 years ago much of the civilized world thought the Y2K computer glitch could potentially fry our infrastructure and cripple virtually every older computer on the planet. So, to help us survive, a cottage industry of tips and tricks starting rolling out to try and explain (and capitalize on) the issue.

One of the coolest pieces of Y2K lore? The Y2K Family Survival Guide, a book that had a companion VHS tape hosted by none other than Leonard Nimoy. Thanks to the glory of the Internet, the one-hour video has survived for our viewing pleasure today.

It’s definitely a relic of its era, and it’s hard to fathom just how much technology has changed and evolved since the turn of the millennium. So enjoy this walk down memory lane with Mr. Nimoy and make sure you’re ready for the tech-pocalypse.

Oh, and Happy New Year!
