Rumor of the Day: First Star Wars spinoff to feature Han Solo

Even as excitement builds for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, little bits of unconfirmed info have started trickling out about those mysterious spinoff films.

The latest comes from Making Star Wars, which alleges that the first Star Wars spinoff movie, due for release in 2016, will focus on the character of Han Solo, and that Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul might be attached to the film in some way -- although that doesn't necessarily mean that Paul will play a younger version of the smuggler personified by Harrison Ford in the original trilogy and now in The Force Awakens.

The site's sources, which it claims have delivered solid intel on the latter film, add that the spinoff will begin filming at London's Pinewood Studios under the code name Luminac Industrial Goods, and that director Gareth Edwards' shoot will overlap in some way with that of Episode VIII -- which makes sense given that Disney wants to push out a new Star Wars movie every year from now until the next extinction-level event wipes us all out.

Meanwhile, an earlier report suggested that the plot of Luminac Industrial Goods will center around the heist that brought the first Death Star plans into the hands of the Rebellion, with the Millennium Falcon somehow involved. If that remains the case, then it makes the possibility of Han turning up somewhat more credible.

For now, however, take all this with the usual heavy dose of salt as we leave you with this question: Do you want to see a young Han Solo in his pre-A New Hope days? Or was his introduction in that film the perfect place for him to enter the saga?
