Good news, SkyeWard shippers: Jed Whedon says Daisy's relationship with Ward will continue to be complicated on Agents of SHIELD

Fandom has a word for placing two characters in a relationship, even if the relationship doesn’t exist in canon: “Shipping.” Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fans started shipping a pre-Daisy Skye and Grant Ward even before the sparks flew ... and some continued to ship them even after the bullets flew.

And it seems that one of the bigger “SkyeWard” shippers is executive producer Jed Whedon.

As Whedon told Entertainment Weekly, “They’re both altered humans at this point. I don’t know. I feel like the chances are greater than ever.”

As for the altering, Whedon is referring to the fact that Daisy (formerly known as Skye) has acquired earthquake powers and that Ward has died (killed by Phil Coulson), but his body was subsumed by an ancient Inhuman evil.

Prior to that, the Inhuman had possessed the body of Will, the astronaut that Simmons left behind on the planet Maveth. Whedon said, “We know that Will’s memories lived on, so some of that could carry. As I’m sure you have guessed, it’s going to get complicated. Spoiler alert, it’s going to get complicated.”

Complicated onscreen relationships, touched by rage and pathos? Those are the best kind.
