Image of the Day: Black Panther stands between Cap and Iron Man in new EW magazine cover

Entertainment Weekly has released a first look at their newest magazine cover featuring Black Panther, Captain America and Iron Man as part of its Captain America: Civil War coverage in this week's issue.

As we all know, Civil War will pit Captain America (Chris Evans) against Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.). Whereas Steve will stand for freedom from government control with their Sokovia Accords, Tony’s remorse over the deadly, dramatic events of Avengers: Age of Ultron will have him support government oversight of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Chris Evans says of the conflict:

“In most of the movies, there’s no question who we should be siding with. We all agree Nazis are bad, aliens from space are bad. But this movie’s the first time where you really have two points of view. It becomes a question of morality and I don’t think [Cap] has ever been so uncertain with what right and wrong is.”

Stuck between Cap and Iron Man is Chadwick Boseman’s T'Challa, aka Black Panther, whose allegiance will be sought by both sides in Marvel's upcoming comic-book movie. The Prince of Wakanda was the first black superhero in mainstream American comics, before War Machine (Don Cheadle), Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Luke Cage (Mike Colter), who've already made their MCU debut.

Captain America: Civil War will open in theaters on May 6, 2016.
