Section 9 goes to battle in first action-packed clip from Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie

The first action-packed clip from Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie has been released online, ahead of the Japanese anime's North American premiere in select theaters next week.

The sci-fi film, based on Masamune Shirow’s beloved Ghost in the Shell manga series, was directed by Kazuya Nomura and is a followup to the Ghost in the Shell: Arise story arc. The movie will tie up loose ends from the plot of the Pyrophoric Cult episode of Arise, which should make a lot of fans happy.

In the clip provided by FUNimation (via Comic Book), you can watch everyone's favorite cyborg Major Kusanagi lead her Public Security Section 9 team into battle, to the awesome beat of some really cool techno music. I actually found my head beating in time with the music -- Night at the Roxbury-style -- while carnage and destruction was wreaked all around. Fun times. Check it out:

In Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie, when a ghost-infecting virus known as Fire-Starter begins spreading through the system resulting in the assassination of the Japanese Prime Minister, Major Motoko Kusanagi and her elite team of special operatives are called in to track down its source. As they delve deeper and deeper into their investigation, they uncover traces of government corruption and a shadowy broker that bears an all-too-familiar face.

Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie will hit over 300 select movie theaters in the U.S. on Nov. 10, 11 and 16. Will this one be a must-watch for you?
