A nearly two-minute international trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens has made its way online, revealing some exciting new footage from the movie set in a galaxy far, far away.
This trailer arrrives hot on the heels of the final domestic trailer released just a few weeks ago, despite assurances by J.J. Abrams that there would be no new trailer until the movie opens in December. Well, there it is, and it comes from the good folks over at Walt Disney Studios Japan (thank you, guys!).
The new footage mostly centers around Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) but also features new shots of BB-8 (whom we’re hearing for the first time, if I’m not mistaken) and Rey and Finn (John Boyega) introducing themselves for the first time. We also have a look at the fiery purge by the First Order on Jakku, and there's a shot of C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) with Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) all together in a room. But the best part of the new trailer? Kylo Ren threatening Rey with his janky, homebrew lightsaber. ZOMG. Prepare to get chills:
Last, but not least, a new international poster as also been released, along with the trailer. It features Kylo Ren front and center, with Rey, Finn, Princess Leia, Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and BB-8 surrounding the villain. Could it be hinting openly at that rumored family affair?
Directed by J.J. Abrams, Star Wars: The Force Awakens will open in theaters on Dec. 18, 2015. What did you think of the new trailer? How totally cute do you find BB-8? Are you looking forward to that Kylo Ren/Rey faceoff?
