First trailer for director Duncan Jones' Warcraft movie soars into action

The first full-length trailer for Warcraft is finally here! Seems like we’ve all been waiting for this for ever and EVER (well, ever since SDCC), but it was just finally unveiled during BlizzCon today.

Directed by Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code), Warcraft is based on Blizzard Entertainment's hit Warcraft universe. The very first game of the series, Warcraft: Orcs and Humans, hit shelves way back when in 1994, but it was the MMORPG World of Warcraft, released in 2004, that really sent things into the stratosphere. The new fantasy movie from Legendary Pictures and Universal Pictures was penned by Charles Leavitt and Jones himself.

Warcraft stars Travis Fimmel (Vikings) as Sir Anduin Lothar, Toby Kebbel (Fantastic Four) as Orc chieftain Durotan, and Robert Kazinsky (True Blood) as the legendary Orgrim Doomhammer. It also stars Paula Patton (Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol), Ben Foster (X-Men: The Last Stand), Dominic Cooper (Agent Carter, Preacher), Clancy Brown (Sleepy Hollow), Ruth Negga (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Preacher) and Daniel Wu (Into the Badlands).

I don't know about you guys, but the trailer is giving me massive Lord of the Rings mixed with Avatar feels. Check it out:

Here is the official synopsis for the movie:

The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: Orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another. As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction. From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home.

So begins a spectacular saga of power and sacrifice in which war has many faces, and everyone fights for something.

Warcraft will soar into theaters on June 10, 2016. Are you guys looking forward to Duncan Jones' epic fantasy movie? Are you hopeful it'll sidestep the dreaded video game movie adaptation curse?
