Google hides Star Wars easter egg in its search function

The techs at Google are no strangers to doing really cool things, but this nifty little Star Wars easter egg might just be one of the coolest.

The search giant is not above getting in on the hype surrounding Star Wars: The Force Awakens, so they’ve embedded a search trick into the code. Basically, all you have to do is search for “a long time ago in a galaxy far far away,” and the page will suddenly flip to black. But, even better, all the search results are displayed in the iconic Star Wars scroll. Heck, they even have John Willams' famous score accompanying your search (which is a nice detail).

If you want to go even deeper down the rabbit hole, fans can click here and choose the Light Side or Dark Side, which will open up several quirky Star Wars-related easter eggs within different Google features (i.e. a lightsaber video progress bar, lightsaber sounds, etc.). It’s a neat trick and can at least help keep things on theme as we rewatch all the Force Awakens trailers over and over and over.

Head over to Google’s homepage and give it a shot.
