Michael Douglas is ready to come back for Ant-Man and the Wasp, but for one thing

I don’t know about you, but I thought Michael Douglas was fantastic in the role of Hank Pym in this summer's Ant-Man. So imagine my surprise when the actor revealed back in July that contrary to the norm, he had not signed on the dotted line for a bazillion more Marvel movies. And when Ant-Man and the Wasp was officially announced last month as part of Marvel's Phase 3, the first question that arose in my mind was: “What of Hank Pym? Will he be back?”

Douglas, who seems to have enjoyed playing the iconic comic-book character, is apparently more than ready and willing to return for the Peyton Reed-directed sequel. In an interview with Collider, Douglas confirmed that he is indeed in talks (so not official yet) to return as Hank Pym in the announced sequel, but he's hoping for one tiny little thing. Here’s what the actor said:

“I just got a call recently – they want to negotiate for a sequel and I thought “That’s great!” Hopefully, I won’t have to carry quite as much expositional dialogue as the first one but I had a wonderful time doing it. Just a great, great time. The cast was fantastic. Paul, Evangeline, Michael Pena – I’m sure he’ll be back. If they can scrape Corey Stoll off the wall, I’m sure they’ll want him too – he’s such a good villain. And Peyton too. It was a lovely experience, so you know, I welcome it. I chuckle about being involved with a movie that already has a release date in 2018... It’s hard to conceive of that, but it’s all good, all the way around, it’s all good.”

Fair enough about Douglas hoping to have less expositional dialogue in the sequel, since his character was fairly bogged down by it in the Marvel superhero/caper movie. I’m hoping he’ll get to do a lot more stuff when/if he returns for Ant-Man and the Wasp. What do you guys think? Are you excited about the possible return of Hank Pym in the sequel?

Ant-Man and the Wasp is slated to hit movie theaters on July 6, 2018.
