Rumor of the Day: Another DC Comics character may make their cinematic debut in Justice League

Move over, Wonder Woman! The Amazon Princess (Gal Gadot) may not be the only superheroine to join the ranks of the Justice League come 2017. With the movie entering preproduction next January, a new rumor has emerged that this DC character may make her cinematic debut when the movie finally arrives on the big screen.

Heroic Hollywood’s Umberto Gonzalez has heard through the grapevine (so take this with a pinch of sea salt) that Aquaman’s lady love, Mera, will make her cinematic debut in Zack Snyder’s superhero-filled movie Justice League: Part One, instead of director James Wan's Aquaman, set to debut the following year. They apparently got a tip from talent agency sources looking for some background on the DC Comics character.

Mera is the wife of Arthur Curry, aka Aquaman, played by Jason Momoa in the movies, and is the Queen of Atlantis. The couple has had a very tumultuous relationship over the years, to put it mildly. Mera has either found herself mind-controlled against her hubby or has been turned against him time and time again, forcing our aquatic hero to choose his child over his wife. The two lovers started up on opposite sides as they represented feuding factions of Atlanteans, and their union became a promise of a unified Atlantis.

Heroic Hollywood seems pretty certain Mera will put in an appearance, but they also point out that it's unclear whether she'll actually suit up and join the Justice League roster or whether she will simply be featured in the comic-book movie.

What do you think? Are you excited about the possibility of having Mera make her big-screen debut on Justice League: Part One? Who would you like to see in the role of Aquaman’s fiery wife?

Justice League: Part One is set to hit movie theaters on Nov. 17, 2017, while Aquaman will make a splash on July 27, 2018.
