Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory's cast assembles in this candy-coated anniversary video

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, starring Gene Wilder, is a sentimental touchstone of my California youth, and its heartfelt magic remains an integral aspect of my creative career.  Roald Dahl's classic children's fantasy, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, from which the movie was adapted, was the first book that I would read incessantly as a child, given to me as a birthday gift from my arts-loving New England aunt.  The addictive movie used to play on pre-cable network TV in the '70s during the holiday season, and I'd never miss an airing.

At a recent convention in Orlando, NBC's Today rounded up six of the original cast members assembled for the 44th anniversary of the movie's release in 1971, with the actors who played Charlie Bucket, Veruca Salt, Mike Teavee, Augustus Gloop, Violet Beauregarde, and Wonka's head Oompa Loompa in attendance.

Skip on in for this nostalgic, cavity-free reunion and hear some of the cast's memories of the movie's production.
