Go from page to screen in new footage from Syfy's space opera The Expanse

With the premiere just one month away, Syfy has dropped a revealing new trailer for The Expanse that digs into the evolution of the sci-fi epic as it transitioned from page to screen.

The TV series, debuting December 14 on Syfy (Corporate owner of Blastr -Ed), is based on the book series by James S. A. Corey. It’s basically an ambitious space opera, set in the melting pot of our own Solar System a few hundred years in the future. The series follows threads ranging from a group of miners taken captive by a rival government, to a semi-dirty cop just trying to keep the peace — all within the backdrop of a world teetering on the gritty brink.

This new trailer includes some fresh footage, as well as interviews with the cast and crew, where they discuss the interpretive decisions and liberties taken to bring the books to the small screen. It’s a fascinating peek behind the development curtain, and also includes some nifty new footage from what looks to be one of the most ambitious space shows since Battlestar Galactica wrapped.
