TV THIS WEEK: The Walking Dead returns, The Flash and other CW premieres, and more!

We've already had one major week of premieres, but we're not done yet. This week, The Walking Dead is back for what will surely be a blockbuster new season, and The CW is rolling out new seasons of everything from The Flash to Supernatural.

Check out the week in TV below. What's on your watchlist?

The Flash (CW) Tuesday, 8 PM - "The Man Who Saved Central City"

Season premiere! - Even before The Flash arrived on our TV screens, I was impressed with the comic-book ambitions of Arrow that set it up. I mean, this was a show that was teasing things like KGBeast and Lazarus Pits, and then its spinoff series decided to dive even deeper into comic-book lore, to great effect. Season 1 brought with it the introductions of Weather Wizard, Captain Cold, Reverse Flash and more, and Season 2 promises to bring us even more. We've already seen Gorilla Grodd in action; now we get the chance to see Jay Garrick speed his way into the proceedings, as a little TV Multiverse forms. The Flash is a show that thrives on ambitious storytelling, and Season 2 looks to capitalize on that in what could be absolutely thrilling ways. Check out a preview below.

American Horror Story: Hotel (FX) Wednesday, 10 PM - "Checking In"

Season premiere! - Ryan Murphy's American Horror Story anthology series has always been a hit, but the fascinating thing is finding out which season will be a hit for which viewers. With each passing year, the show loses and gains viewers based on its premise, its cast and its overall tone, and with Hotel, Murphy and company will in many ways confront an entirely new audience. Numerous members of the Murphy stock company remain, Lady Gaga is a key selling point, and we expect the show to continue to bring its particular blend of sexy, silly and scary to TV. The question isn't whether the show will deliver. The question is who will sit up and take notice this time. Check out a preview below.

The Vampire Diaries (CW) Thursday, 8 PM - "Day One of Twenty-Two Thousand, Give or Take"

Season premiere! - Though Supernatural is the senior series on The CW right now, The Vampire Diaries is the network's most reliable ratings earner for the moment. Though Arrow and The Flash continue to gain on it, the vampire series is still churning out substantial numbers, and though there's no reason to doubt that will continue for the moment, this season in particular is crucial. Why? Well, it's the first season that won't involve star Nina Dobrev, who's been one of the key focal points of the series since its inception. This year, The Vampire Diaries will have to learn to live without one of its pillars, and we as an audience will have to see how the other pillars hold the show up. Check out a preview below.

Haven (Syfy) Thursday, 10 PM - "New World Order" and "Power"

Midseason premiere! - At last, we come to the beginning of the end of Haven. We've known since August that the Syfy series adapted very broadly from Stephen King's The Colorado Kid would come to an end this year, and now we get to see the final handful of episodes that will wrap it all up. If you're familiar with the source material, you know that the very idea of this show could've been a major stretch that didn't work, but the cast and crew made this thing succeed for five seasons. That's no small thing. Check out a preview below.

The Walking Dead (AMC) 9 PM - "First Time Again"

Season premiere! - By now, even if you don't watch the show, you're likely aware of the massive cultural impact of The Walking Dead. The show's set cable ratings records multiple times, and it's such a huge entity that even its spinoff series, Fear the Walking Dead, is setting records. The series is a massive force in the pop-culture landscape, and there's no reason to think that this season will be any different. So, what's next? Well, we're going to keep exploring how Rick and the group succeed or fail in Alexandria, and we're going to await the arrival of more comic-book-based foes ... like the dreaded Negan. Check out the preview below.
