While the fate of Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner/Hulk was left either up in the air or at the bottom of the ocean in Avengers: Age of Ultron, it would appear that the Jade Giant’s next appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe prior to Avengers: Infinity War will be in Thor: Ragnarok.
The report comes from Joblo, who claim that not only will Ruffalo join Chris Hemsworth and Jaimie Alexander in the third Thor movie, but so will another fan favorite. Inside sources have apparently confirmed them during this weekend’s New York Comic-Con (so take it with a grain of salt) that both Ruffalo and Tom Hiddleston (Loki) will be in the movie.
The site says that the God of Thunder and the Green Goliath will team up to face the equivalent of the Norse Apocalypse. They also posit that Marvel will work on the oft-rumored Planet Hulk storyline, but that they can neither confirm nor deny it.
As for the amount of time Ruffalo will spend as Bruce Banner or as the other guy, they don’t know. The only thing they seem to be certain of is that he will definitely be in Thor: Ragnarok, stressing that “he’s absolutely part of the supporting cast and will feature prominently.” They’ve also heard that the movie will involve a “distant planet that is not Asgard and not Earth.” So, one of the Nine Realms, perhaps? One we haven’t yet seen? What do you guys make of this? I think that would make for an interesting pair-up, considering the hilarious scene we got between them in the first Avengers movie (see below).
Directed by Taika Waititi, with a script written by Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle, Thor: Ragnarok is slated to be released on Nov. 3, 2017.
