Game of Thrones' Natalie Dormer hunts for her sister in creepy new The Forest trailer

We're used to seeing Natalie Dormer as the scheming Tyrell tart Margaery on HBO's Game of Thrones, so it's a little unsettling to watch her wandering in the wicked woods in next year's indie horror film The Forest.   Dormer takes the lead in this eerie nightmare set amid the "suicide forest" near Mt. Fuji in Japan, an actual place where it's been said people go to end their lives.  Directed by Jason Zada, it combines the creepy undercurrent of great J-horror fare with the psychological edge of classic American cult flicks and slasher films.

Here's the official synopsis from Gramercy Pictures:

“The Forest,” which is set in the Aokigahara forest at the base of Mt. Fuji, tells the story of a young American woman who goes in search of her twin sister, who has mysteriously disappeared. Despite everyone’s warnings to “stay on the path,” Sara enters the forest determined to discover the truth about her sister’s fate, only to be confronted by the angry and tormented souls of the dead who prey on anyone who wanders into the forest.

The Forest blooms in theaters on Jan. 8, 2016, and also stars Taylor Kinney, Eoin Macken and Yukiyoshi Ozawa.
