Disney’s 1992 animated classic Aladdin is arguably one of the best movies the Mouse House ever produced, highlighted by a positively stellar performance from Robin Williams. But it almost looked a whole lot different.
The official blog Oh My Disney has released some vintage concept art from the development of the film, which they claim has never been seen. We can’t exactly confirm that outright, though we will admit it definitely seems new to us.
It’s easy to see this art must’ve come from the early phases of development, because some of the character designs are drastically different than the final versions. From different outfits to different faces, it’s extremely weird to see these iconic characters through a different lens. Heck, the genie’s lamp actually has a face on it in one of these shots.
Check out the art below and take a deep dive into the mirror universe of Alt-Disney.
