Scott Lang gets a second chance in first trailer for Marvel's Ant-Man

It's been a rocky road for Scott Lang and Hank Pym to get the big screen. It took years for Edgar Wright to finally get around to making the film, which seemed like a dream project for him, and then he dropped out at the 11th hour over creative differences with Marvel. By the time Peyton Reed stepped in to helm the flick, some of us weren't even sure we wanted to see the movie anymore, but now Ant-Man is just months away, and the first trailer is here to convince everyone that it won't be Marvel's first major dud.

The trailer puts a big emphasis on redemption, as criminal Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) is taken under the wing of Henry Pym (Michael Douglas). Pym sees potential in Lang. He sees a man who has what it takes to be the hero Lang's own daughter already thinks he is, and he wants Lang to become "The Ant-Man." From there, the footage kicks into high gear with a breathless mixture of action, drama and comedy. We see Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) kicking ass, we see Darren Cross (Corey Stoll) building his supervillain angst, we see lots of fun ant-sized footage, and we even get some nice and tongue-in-cheek digs at the very idea that, yes, we're really getting a movie starring a superhero named "Ant-Man."

But enough talk! Here's the trailer.

What do you think? Are your worries are gone, or do you still need more convincing?

Ant-Man hits theaters July 17, 2015.
