Arrow's midseason finale left us with a major cliffhanger. Seriously, someone was left for dead on a cliff. In that episode, Oliver Queen had met his match in Ra's al Ghul. The leader of the League of Assassins challenged the archer to a fight, and Oliver accepted. Unfortunately, he lost and, at this moment, is presumed dead.
Of course, the show is called Arrow, and it just got renewed for a fourth season. We're pretty sure they didn't kill off the title character. But let's entertain this idea anyway. While at the winter TCA (Television Critics Association) tour, we learned about the future of Starling City without the hero.
Oliver didn't work alone, so his entire team decides to step up. But only one person actually dons his green costume. Actor David Ramsey told EW that his character, Diggle, will suit up in Oliver's absence. “Blarrow returns!” Ramsey joked. “Don’t call it a comeback.”
Diggle won't be the only one hitting the streets. Laurel is finally living up to her comic-book legacy by becoming the Black Canary. Her portrayer, Katie Cassidy, explained, "I’ve been waiting for this to happen.” In regard to Laurel's transformation from civilian to vigilante, she said, “She goes from avenging her sister to honoring her sister to becoming her sister.”
Don't forget, Roy is still in the picture as Arsenal. Plus, Ray Palmer is still toiling away at his Atom project. Starling City will be in good hands while we await the resurrection of Oliver Queen.
Do you think Starling can survive without the Arrow?
Arrow returns Jan. 21 on The CW.
