New trailer for del Toro's Silent Hills reveals a school you do NOT want to attend

The super-freaky Silent Hill franchise is getting a reboot from two of the biggest names in movies and videogames — and now we have a terrifying new peek at what they’re putting together.

Dubbed Silent Hills, the upcoming videogame comes from genre legend Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy) and videogame genius Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear Solid). The Silent Hill franchise has been scaring the bejesus out of us since the original PlayStation days back in 1999, and this new version seems like a throwback to those days of true WTF terror. With these two industry heavies at the helm, we can't wait to see how this turns out.

We don’t know too much about the plot at this point, but we can assume the game will be set in the small town of Silent Hill, which turns into a terrifying, nightmare hellscape full of creepy crawlies, monsters, severed heads and blood. Lots and lots of blood. Oh, the new version also stars Walking Dead fan fave Norman Reedus, which is awesome. In digital form, obviously.

The latest trailer brings the freaky factor to 11, which is no surprise considering del Toro’s involvement. The use of children’s toys make it especially unsettling, as reality bends around the monsters roaming the abandoned (by humans, anyway) halls. Here’s what del Toro had to say about the project at the recent Tokyo Game Show via IGN:

"We talked about concepts and tools at his headquarters in Tokyo. Then he sent his first version of the playable teaser. I saw it. loved it. We then... exchanged ideas and the result was the playable teaser you see now... The concepts we're discussing, the ideas that we're discussing and the tools that are in play to create Silent Hills are going to render an incredibly intense and an incredibly scary game."

After seeing the latest trailer, we’re prone to believe him. Check it out below and let us know what you think:
