We still have a week to wait until Marvel’s flagship TV series, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., returns to ABC, but the network has dropped two new clips that give us a sneak peek at all the new additions.
They’re expanding the cast quite a bit in year two, following that insane season-one finale that found Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) tasked with rebuilding S.H.I.E.L.D. in the shadows on a shoestring budget. The first two clips find Lucy Lawless’ Agent Isabelle Hartley in deep cover, running afoul of Coulson’s gang.
There’s also the introduction of comic-based Marvel baddie Crusher Creel/The Absorbing Man (Brian Patrick Wade), referred to here as a “bulletproof assassin” who steals classified S.H.I.E.L.D. intel, as he blows up an operation and makes off with the goods. He seems to be a formidable foe for the season opener, and the guy can definitely take some bullets and keep on rolling.
We also get a look at Skye and Triplett investigating those weird alien symbols from the season-one finale, and we’re anxious to see how that pays off. Of course, we're also psyched Triplett is sticking around. That guy rocks.
Check out the new footage below, which will hopefully tide us over until season two debuts Sept. 23 on ABC.
