Massive chart categorizes dozens of Batman's legendary villains

Batman fans, this is the elaborate and stylish taxonomy of the Caped Crusader's foes you've been waiting for.

It seems like we've already packed about 10 years of commemoration into seven or so months, but believe it or not, Batman's 75th anniversary is still going on, and that means there are still plenty of Bat-goodies out there for you to snatch up. Today we saw this one, created by the fine folks at Pop Chart Lab, and it's definitely a must-have for anyone who both loves Batman villains and needs some new art for their walls.

Titled "The Myriad Monikers of Gotham's Villains," the poster is the second edition of Pop Chart Lab's effort to not just list but classify the Dark Knight's many, many rogues. The new edition features a pulpy design perfect for fans of early Batman books, as well as the Batman '66 TV series, and it updates the chart to include even more villains. As you might have noticed, the chart takes the form of a complicated taxonomical web entirely devoted to Batman villains, classifying each foe based on things like royal titles, name meanings, physical anomalies, animal-themed power sets and much more. It's so detailed that it might be tiresome if it weren't also so playful.

Check out this excerpt, which classifies Bane under the larger category of "Intangibles/Abstractions," and under the smaller category of "Bad Things."

Then, if you want to see just how thorough the chart gets, take a look at just a small section of the poster devoted to animal-themed villains.

A 12x16 print of this monument to the malicious murderers and mischief-makers of Gotham City is available now for just $20. It'll probably look great on your wall, but as you can tell from this full-size view, you might end up staring at it for several hours.
