We’d recently heard DC character Plastique would be coming to the first season of The CW’s Flash, and now we know who’ll be bringing her to life.
The producers have signed Kelly Frye (Rake) in a guest role as Bette Sans Souci, aka Plastique, according to a report from E! Online. This version of the character will be a bomb disposal expert who develops the superpower to turn any object she touches into an explosive device after being exposed following the S.T.A.R. Labs meltdown that gave Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) his super speed.
The character of Plastique was last seen on the small screen in season eight of The CW’s Smallville, played by Jessica Parker Kennedy.
According to the report, Plastique will be on the run from “shadow forces” in the U.S. government working to turn her into a human weapon. Though she’s typically portrayed as a villain in classic DC lore, she has flirted with good on occasion, so we’re curious to see how the writers work her into Central City. Also of note: The character has been on the Suicide Squad, as well, so we smell an Arrow crossover in the making at some point. Fingers crossed.
The joint team behind Arrow has already shown they’re not afraid to dig deep into the DC canon when it comes to villains (that’s especially true for season three), and it seems The Flash will follow the same track. The pilot is one of the most enjoyable of the season, and we can’t wait to see what comes next.
What do you think of Frye’s casting? Is she a good fit for Plastique?
