Marvel turns concept art into first official Ant-Man poster for Comic-Con

Ant-Man's coming to Comic-Con, and he's giving us our best look yet at his superhero gear.

If you're someone who's been looking forward to this particular big-screen venture from Marvel Studios for some time, then it's probably been a rough few weeks for you. First the flick lost its fan-favorite director, Edgar Wright, then it seemed to struggle to find a replacement, then Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige had to spend some time trying to convince us all that the studio's new choice to helm the flick, Peyton Reed (Yes Man), wouldn't just be a studio puppet going forward. That's all a bit discouraging, particularly since we were waiting for nearly a decade for Wright's vision of the character to come to the screen.

The flick seems back on track now, though. The original cast, including Paul Rudd as Scott Lang and Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, is still on board, and the flick is set to shoot in August for a July 17, 2015, release. With less than a year to go until we see the film, and after a few weeks of turmoil surrounding it, you can bet Marvel's going to use Comic-Con to try to get us all as excited as possible once again. We'll probably hear plenty about it during the studio's always-anticipated Saturday night panel in Hall H, but for now Marvel's released a Comic-Con exclusive poster for the film. Check it out:

Yeah, the film's two stars are featured in the image, but the real star is the suit. It's not nearly as heavy on the red fabric as most of the comic-book versions, but it's still clearly Ant-Man, and it looks like it'll fit right into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And, of course, it's great to see Ant-Man leading a fleet of flying ants, even if it's not live-action just yet.

Expect more Ant-Man news from Comic-Con as the week rolls on.
