The Republic has fallen in first full trailer for Star Wars: Rebels

We’ve been on the fence about Disney and Lucasfilm’s new animated series set to replace The Clone Wars, but this full trailer for Star Wars: Rebels actually looks pretty awesome.

Ahead of debuting some nifty goodies at San Diego Comic-Con later this week, Disney has released the first full trailer for Star Wars: Rebels, introducing the cast and setup for the show meant to bridge the gap between the two main trilogies. It’s an exciting era to explore, and we really like what we’re seeing here with the birth of the rebellion.

It definitely has that swashbuckling feel we were wanting to see in the absence of Clone Wars, and the effects look top-notch. There are also some nice nods to the established canon to go along with all the new characters we’re meeting here. Plus, stick around to the end for the reveal of the big bad Inquisitor.

Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think:

The voice cast includes Freddie Prinze Jr., Taylor Gray, Steve Blum, Tiya Sircar, Vanessa Marshall, Jason Isaacs, David Oyelowo and Billy Dee Williams. The series will have a one-hour debut on Disney Channel this fall before transitioning to its regular slot at Disney XD.
