The Winter Soldier launches into space with Marvel's new Bucky Barnes comic series

The Winter Soldier is expanding his heroic horizons this fall in Marvel's new Bucky Barnes: The Winter Soldier comic series, written by Ales Kot (Zero, Secret Avengers) and artist Marco Rudy (Marvel Knights, Spider-Man).  Influenced by the pulpy sci-fi visuals of Heavy Metal Magazine, the existential angst of Philp K. Dick and the tough-guy spy stories of Jim Steranko, the title sees Bucky Barnes get the entire Marvel Universe as his own private playground.

Editor Will Moss explained how his choice of creators was a no-brainer:

“Ales teaches a master class on 21st-century spy stories in Zero month after month, and he’s come up with a whole new spin on the genre for this new Winter Soldier series. And Marco reinvents sequential art every time he draws a page, as anyone who read the recent New Avengers Annual knows, so he was a natural pick for a book like this where there are no limits, and where every corner of the Marvel U. is going to be explored.  From the depths of Limbo to the heights of Asgard and everywhere in between.  It'd be like if the James Bond movies suddenly had access to the characters and setting of all the other great film franchises."

So, has Bucky Barnes earned a place in the pantheon of cosmic crusaders, or should he stick closer to Steve Rogers' star-spangled side?
