Rumor of the day: Here's one potential Star Wars plotline

Vader and Emperor

The latest rumor circulating about Star Wars Episode VII features a plotline and villains that sound ... not too wildly unrealistic. Spoiler warning in effect, just in case!

A site called Making Star Wars has revealed some intel that it claims to have received from insiders working on the movie at Pinewood Studios in London. According to them, the antagonists in the movie are being referred to as "Jedi hunters." They dress in black, they use lightsabers, they have footsoldiers who resemble stormtroopers (but in black, as well), and they hate the Jedi.

Why? Apparently while they are not Sith themselves, they worship the Sith and were their protectors for ages. So when the Sith were destroyed in Return of the Jedi, they were none too happy about it and have been working to undermine the Jedi ever since -- to the point that their activities have prevented the formation of a new Republic.

Supposedly when Episode VII opens, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) has been going after these "Jedi hunters" for the 30 years since we last saw him. But it seems that Luke won't get the job done, because the Sith will be resurrected at the end of Episode VIII and will become the main enemy in Episode IX.

Adam Driver and Lupita Nyong'o are playing two of the "Jedi hunters" (no word on whether that is their official name), and other actors in the cast may be part of their sect as well. It's also been pointed out that these bad guys sound a lot like the Inquisitor in the upcoming Star Wars: Rebels animated series, so it's possible that someone is confusing the two, or that they could be linked in some way.

Clearly, no one is going to officially confirm or deny this for now, but the speculation will continue. What do you make of it? Does this sound like a plausible and intriguing possibility for the new trilogy's storyline?
