Oops! Looks like Amazing Spider-Man 3 has been delayed to 2017.

Spider-Man, Spider-Man. Does whatever a spider can. Unless it involves coming out in 2016, apparently.

The Amazing Spider-Man came out in 2012. Its sequel bowed in 2014. So ... the third in the series -- 2016, right?

Well, that had seemed to be the plan, but it looks like things have changed. Tucked away in a report over on Ain't it Cool, there was this interesting nugget:

I have been told that THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3 has been moved to an undetermined date in 2017.

Oof. Nothing says the absence of lovin' quite like "an undetermined date." Considering that Amazing Spidey 2 has earned about $50 million less than its predecessor, it could be that Sony is having a long, hard think about what it's done and how to do it better.

Not to color this too much with an opinionated brush, but ASM2 was kiiiiiind of a garbage dump of a movie. Like, just a lot of garbage all piled on top of more garbage, seemingly in a random, slapdash, focus-grouped-to-death-so-who-gives-a-@#$ sort of way. So, if Sony is re-evaluating how to fix the franchise, that would be very welcome news.

Then again, it could just be that the Sinister Six movie is coming out in 2016 instead!
