GRRM voices himself, flees a nerd attack in new Robot Chicken clip

George R.R. Martin can't even make it to the store without being trapped by a flock of nerds.

More than a few jokes have been made about the rabid hordes of readers who won't stop pestering Martin to finish the long-awaited sixth volume in his A Song of Ice and Fire series, and those hordes have only grown larger with the ever-expanding success of Game of Thrones. Martin's heard all the jokes, and he's even played a part in a few of them. Now he's getting in on the fun in stop-motion form, voicing himself on this Sunday's episode of the Adult Swim comedy Robot Chicken.

In the clip below, Martin's just an average writer trying to take a pleasant walk to the store, but of course, the moment one nerd recognizes him on the street, a whole flock begins chasing after him, hurling questions ranging from "When's the next book gonna be finished?" to "Are direwolves real?" It's ostensibly a parody of the Alfred Hitchcock classic The Birds, but some of it also feels eerily realistic.

Check out the clip below, and catch Martin's guest appearance on Robot Chicken Sunday at 11:30 p.m. on Adult Swim.
