Channing Tatum shows off his gravity boots in 1st clip from Wachowski's Jupiter Ascending

We’ve seen some vague trailers, but the first clip from the Wachowskis new sci-fi epic Jupiter Ascending has finally arrived. Want to see?

The clip focuses on Channing Tatum’s pointy-eared alien, Caine, as he tries to explain his gravity boots to Mila Kunis’ Jupiter Jones. The footage finally gives us a feel for the interplay between the two leads, and honestly, it comes off a little strange. Here’s hoping this movie flows a bit better in context.

The story follows a genetically engineered ex-military hunter (Tatum) who arrives on Earth to track down a young woman (Kunis) whose genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos. It’s ambitious, but the Wachowskis have been fairly hit-or-miss since the Matrix days.

Check out the footage below and let us know what you think:

Jupiter Ascending opens July 18.
