Rumor of the day: Harrison Ford has 'gigantic' role in Star Wars 7, casting news

With the original cast assembled in London to start work on the new sequel, it’s no surprise the rumor mill is churning about who else will star in J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII. Turns out we might be seeing a whole lot of one of those original stars.

Deadline is reporting that Harrison Ford, who played roguish smuggler-turned-hero Han Solo in the original trilogy, has a “gigantic role” in the first of the next three films. We’d heard the new draft of the script featured Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher more than the initial version — but it sounds like Ford will have even more to do than the rest.

Honestly, it makes sense. Han Solo is a huge fan favorite going back to the start, and Harrison Ford is obviously the biggest star left out of the bunch. Why wouldn't they want to take advantage of having him involved and milk out as much screen time as possible?

But who might be joining him? The report notes that a handful of the rumored names that have been bouncing around the past few months are close to signing on, including Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis), Adam Driver (Girls), John Boyega (Attack the Block) and relative newcomer Maisie Richardson-Sellers.
