Patrick Stewart may have just dropped a HUGE Days of Future Past spoiler

Did Patrick Stewart just give away something big about the latest X-Men flick?

WARNING: This post contains MAJOR POTENTIAL SPOILERS for X-Men: Days of Future Past.

X-Men: Days of Future Past will be Sir Patrick's fourth outing as the leader of the X-Men, Professor Charles Xavier. In his last X-Men film, The Last Stand, Stewart's character died, only to come back again in a post-credits sequence. Now he's back in the midst of a time-travel adventure with his fellow mutants, very much alive and very much dedicated to a quest to fix the past before the future becomes hopeless. The Days of Future Past film certainly seems to be taking plenty of liberties with the original comic-book storyline, at least in terms of character inclusion, but could it veer away from its source material even more when it comes to who lives and who dies?

In a recent MTV interview, Stewart was asked about death in the X-Men movies, and gave this potentially quite complex answer that could suggest Xavier doesn't make it out of this film.

"That is one of the blessings about fantasy and science fiction. You’re never really dead," Stewart said. "I would love to come back and do some more … There might be something else. A little bird has whispered that there might be something ‘X-Men’ related."

Now, we already know that another X-Men film -- Apocalypse -- is in the works, though we don't know for sure how many of the current mutant cast will return for it. Is Stewart saying he dies yet again in Days of Future Past? Is he saying he might die only to return for Apocalypse? Is he hinting at some kind of spinoff appearance? Or is he perhaps just talking about the joy of being revived after the events of The Last Stand? It's really hard to tell, and that might have been the intention of Stewart's answer all along.

X-Men: Days of Future Past hits theaters May 23. What do you think? Will it depict another death for Professor X?
