Watch Tolkien go 8-bit in an NES-style take on the Hobbit

If you don't want to spend five and a half hours on parts one and two of The Hobbit, you might consider this three-and-a-half-minute pixelated alternative.

It's weird that three nearly three-hour movies are being made out of one 300-page book. Yeah, you've heard it. But whether you're thrilled at the inclusion of every appendix (and then some) in the new trilogy, or you've been slitting your wrists with your own Sting prop replica, this 8/16-bit rendition of the first two movies in the series will be a welcome sight.

Sort of reminds me of the videogame version of Willow that Capcom put out in 1989. Wouldn't it be nice if, instead of a high-graphic/low-gameplay game, we got a real Hobbit game that looked just like this? Or maybe both of them, if fancy polygons are your bag?

Regardless, consider yourself prepared to watch There and Back Again, at least.
