Producers say don't expect "classic lineup" for Sinister Six movie

If you were planning on seeing the usual suspects when Sony expands the Spidey-verse, you'rein for a bit of a disappointment.

The original Sinister Six date all the way back to 1964. They first appeared in a little book called Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1, and the gang of villains consisted of Doctor Octopus, Kraven the Hunter, Mysterio, Vulture, Electro and Sandman.

But while there is some interest in tapping into aspects of classic Spidey, that does not guarantee you'll see that particular lineup. In fact, you almost definitely won't, according to Amazing Spider-Man 2 producer Matt Tolmach, who said, "Nothing is sacred. I mean, it’s going to be the best Six that you can imagine, but it’s going to make sense in the world that we’re building."

The best Six, eh? Or is that more like "the six we've got"? Based on the Amazing Spidey 2 trailers, it's a solid bet that Green Goblin will be the one organizing the team, as opposed to Doc Ock. If he and Electro are still alive, we imagine they are each a lock. From there, who knows? We've got Paul Giamatti as the Rhino, who, by the way, looks the way he does because of the fans. Says co-producer Avi Arad, "... can you imagine seeing Paul Giamatti in a leather suit? I think they would have killed us. They gave us a hard time with the Lizard."

So, again, assuming no deaths -- Goblin, Electro and Rhino. That's three. We've seen glimpses of Doc Ock's arm and Vulture's wing in Amazing Spidey 2 trailers. So they're a maybe. That's five. Who rounds it out? Venom? Or is he sticking to his own movie? And what about Kraven, who appears in the Spidey 2 tie-in game? Could he be involved?

Basically, what we're saying is, could be a similar lineup, but probably not Mysterio or Sandman. Sorry, guys.
