Rumor of the Day: Terminator Genesis will take us to some VERY familiar places

If you're like us, you've been dying to know about the new Terminator movie. The cast has been confirmed (Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney), but the plot is still locked away in a studio dungeon.

Details are hard to come by, but the folks at Moviehole may have found something. They have a "reputable source" who's supposedly in the know when it comes to Terminator: Genesis. Take it with a grain of salt, but it's definitely some interesting stuff.

Here's the rundown on what they learned:

The 'Terminator' from the future will arrive on earth, attack some punks (keen to see who they get to play ‘Bill Paxton’), and then slaughter his way through a bunch of Sarah Connors’ – until he finds the correct target….And, of course, Kyle Reese (Courtney) volunteers to go back to 1984 and save Sarah – just as he did first time around. But don’t expect everything to work out like it did in the original.. something is going to play out different.

And then, we’ll also be taken back to the events of the sequel. The scene where the T-1000 (played by Robert Patrick in Terminator 2: Judgement Day), posing as a cop, visiting John Connor’s home, where he meets – and consequently kills – foster parents Todd (Xander Berkeley) and Janelle (Jenette Goldstein), is in there ... And then we’ll be going back to moments we haven’t seen on film before – such as scenes with young Sarah and her parents.

The idea that something could go wrong with Sarah or Kyle has us interested. Their fates as well as John's are linked. Perhaps the time-travel element will play around with variations of their story? Maybe Sarah or Kyle dies before John is conceived? There are so many possibilities.

We're also curious about how, exactly, they'll be revisiting those iconic scenes. Are we talking a mix of repurposed footage from the original films, or reshooting those scenes with new actors? We hate the idea of messing with the classics, but it could be interesting in a Back to the Future kind of way if they can pull it off.

What are your theories?
