This Lost favorite may land major Ant-Man role

You've already got Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas in Ant-Man. Who do you cast next?

Why, the female lead, of course, and Variety says that Marvel is in talks with Evangeline Lilly for the part.

Lilly came to fame as Kate Austen on Lost, and showed up last December as the elf warrior Tauriel in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, where she won acclaim for her performance of a character that was made up entirely for the movie (she'll return in The Hobbit: There and Back Again in December).

Apparently playing non-canon roles is becoming her thing, since inside sources say that she is being approached to play the daughter of Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas) in Ant-Man -- a character that does not exist in the comics.

Pym's daughter would also serve as a love interest for Scott Lang (Rudd) -- the man who steals Pym's Ant-Man technology and eventually becomes a superhero, if Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish's script sticks at least that much to the mythology.

Interestingly, the Hollywood Reporter adds that Lilly, if she signs on, will be contracted to appear in more than one Marvel film -- could that mean that her character becomes a heavily revised version of the Wasp?

Production begins in April, with Wright behind the camera, so we may know more soon. Ant-Man opens on July 17, 2015.
