Chris Pratt teases the catalyst behind the secret plot of Jurassic Park 4

It’s taken a long time for Jurassic Park 4 to actually happen, and the big holdup has been coming up with a story worth telling. With filming set to finally start on the sequel, new star Chris Pratt is here to alleviate our fears.

Pratt, who will probably be a much more bankable movie star once Guardians of the Galaxy opens later this year, is also signed on to star in Jurassic Park 4. Pratt teased that his character is a “combination” of the cynicism from Goldblum’s character and the excitement of Sam Neill’s character from the original film. Intriguing.

He also touched on the plot and said that new director Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed) really does have a great story that will address the obvious question of why the heck we’re actually messing around with dinosaurs again after things have gone so wrong in the original trilogy.

Here’s an excerpt from what he told MTV News:

“What I liked about it was it answers the question of ‘Why would you do that?’ Like, how do you suspend disbelief to be like, ‘Oh yes, let’s make this mistake again. We haven’t learned out lesson about dinosaurs, we should definitely live with them and see how that works out!’ after like three tries at it.  They answer the question really well through the script.  Colin did a great job of writing it and justifying it and in his own way having fun with that, so anybody who goes in with that question will be really amused—the way I was—about how they answer that.”

“[Trevorrow has] got a great vision for the movie… It’s awesome that Steven Spielberg is taking a chance on this guy because he’s got a really clear vision.  I sat down with him and it was kind of like with me and [Guardians of the Galaxy director] James [Gunn], we just kind of started getting excited about this.”

In addition to Pratt, the sequel stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Nick Robinson and Ty Simpkins. It’s set to open in theaters June 12, 2015. Do you think it’ll turn out all right?
