See how Winter Soldier gets the upper hand in 8 new Captain America 2 pics

Aside from an initial trailer, we haven’t gotten to see too much of Marvel’s massive Phase 3 flick Captain America: Winter Soldier. But that’s finally starting to change.

As part of a cover-story package with Empire, the studio has released eight intriguing new pics from the sequel. So what do we see? For one thing, we get one of our best looks yet at Sebastian Stan’s titular baddie, who is armed with none other than Cap’s own (extremely beaten-up) shield. Uh-oh.

Along with the Winter Soldier looking extremely kick-ass, we also get a peek at Cap (Chris Evans) looking very serious in his new suit; Robert Redford’s S.H.I.E.L.D. director meeting with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson); a peek at Anthony Mackie's Falcon; more Robert Redford; Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow on the run from something; and a few other random shots.

Everything we've seen looks like this could be the biggest Marvel movie since The Avengers, and we can't wait to see how it turns out. Savor these pics, fanboys and girls, because it may be water in the desert while we continue the long wait until that April 4, 2014, release date.
