Look which Marvel character is back in 25 new intriguing Agent Carter stills

Marvel has released a slew of new official pics showing the eagerly anticipated return of a certain Marvel Cinematic Universe character; and we finally learn just WHEN the new ABC TV series will actually take place.

And it’s not exactly when we all thought it would.

When a reader asked Entertainment Weekly’s Spoiler Room when Agent Carter would actually be picking up, this is what they revealed:

It obviously takes place after Captain America: The First Avenger, but actually before Stark asks her to head up S.H.I.E.L.D. with him at the end of the Marvel One Shot. “That will essentially be the last thing that ever happens in the series,” executive producer Michele Fazekas says. “We will never have S.H.I.E.L.D. in this series. So, in some regard, the One Shot is the end of the series.”

So if anyone (like us) was expecting the new series to take place after the Marvel One Shot, and to see the early beginnings of S.H.I.E.L.D., well, that’s been shut down faster than a speeding bullet (oops, wrong franchise). Will that be the right move for Marvel, though? We'll have to wait and see.

As a refresher, here are the official plot synopses for the two-part season premiere of Marvel’s Agent Carter on ABC:

In the episode "Now is Not the End," Peggy is contacted by old acquaintance Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper, Marvel's "Captain America: The First Avenger") when he is framed for unleashing his deadliest weapons and can trust no one else. To help Peggy clear Stark's name, he insists his butler, Edwin Jarvis, be at her beck and call--whether she likes it or not. But the risk is great: If caught, Agent Carter could be targeted as a traitor and spend the rest of her days in prison...or worse.

In the episode "Bridge and Tunnel," Howard Stark's deadliest weapon has fallen into enemy hands, and only Agent Carter can recover it. But can she do so before her undercover mission is discovered by SSR Chief Dooley and Agent Thompson?

Have a look at the brand-new stills, which show the return of a certain genius billionaire philanthropist playboy's dad played by Dominic Cooper (Captain America: The First Avenger). Are you planning to tune in to watch Agent Carter on Tuesday, Jan. 6?
