Return to the park in first trailer for Jurassic World

It took more than a decade, but the fourth installment in the blockbuster Jurassic Park franchise will finally hit theaters next summer, and it's boasting quite a bit of talent both in front of and behind the camera. Behind the camera, the film marks the first big-budget effort from director Colin Trevorrow, who gave us the acclaimed time-travel comedy Safety Not Guaranteed in 2012, and the story was co-developed by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, a writing team that recently helped revitalize the Planet of the Apes franchise. In front of the camera, the film features 2014's breakout blockbuster star Chris Pratt, as well as Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D'Onofrio, Jake Johnson, Judy Greer and more.

Set 22 years after the first Jurassic Park, the film will return us to Isla Nublar, and to what's become a vital, fully functioning and successful dinosaur theme park, now known as Jurassic World. The trailer begins with a kind of park tour as we follow two awestruck boys (Nick Robinson and Ty Simpkins) on their dinosaur encounters. It all looks quite spectacular, until we learn that behind the scenes, researchers at the park have used their access to dinosaur genetic material to create something new. Pratt's character Owen sums that up nicely: "Probably not a good idea."

From there, the trailer transitions to some good old-fashioned Jurassic Park terror, including teaser shots of the creature, a haunting piano score and Chris Pratt riding a motorcycle through a herd of velociraptors. Check it out:

Jurassic World opens June 12, 2015. What do you think? Will it be worth the 14-year wait?
