New details on Doctor Who's Christmas special revealed: Title, synopsis and promo art

Some tantalizing new tidbits about the Doctor's latest Christmas adventure have emerged.

First, the title. Written by Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat and guest-starring Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead) in the jolly good role of Santa Claus -- with Nathan McMullen and Dan Starkey (who also plays our favorite Sontaran, Commander Strax) as his elves, named respectively Wolf and Ian -- the Xmas yuletide special is titled “Last Christmas.”

But a last Christmas for whom? Could this be another hint that Jenna Coleman's time on the show is ticking down?

The BBC has also released an official short synopsis that seems to answer that question, as well as some promo art for the upcoming festive episode.

Here's the synopsis:

The Doctor and Clara face their Last Christmas. Trapped on an Arctic base, under attack from terrifying creatures, who are you going to call? Santa Claus!

Annnd you can have a look at two new pieces of promo art -- as well as a pic -- in the gallery down below!

Are you guys looking forward to Doctor Who's "Last Christmas"?
