Watch 18 geek-tastic minutes of Terry Gilliam talking his sci-fi classic Brazil

Terry Gilliam’s Brazil is one of the coolest, weirdest movies ever made — and here is the master himself digging into what made it so special.

A new interview with Gilliam, recorded at BFI, finds the award-winning director offering up some insights in the 1985 film about an Orwellian retro-future. Gilliam also discusses his unabashed love for 2001: A Space Odyssey, and the concept of middle management in general. Shockingly, he’s not a fan.

As The Playlist notes, Gilliam also discusses the disagreements he had with screenwriter Tom Stoppard when they were putting the film together, along with the movie’s themes (which Gilliam notes are more relevant than ever) and how they used everything from make-up to costumes to bring it all together.
