CONFIRMED: Peter Capaldi will be back for Doctor Who Season Nine

Well, this one was a bit of a timey-wimey no-brainer, BUT STILL.

Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat has confirmed that the Twelfth Doctor would be back for Season 9.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter after an event in London to mark the DVD release of the BBC series’ eight season, Moffat did, indeed, confirm that Peter Capaldi would be returning for Season 9.

Moffat said that “Yes, he’s confirmed.” As for Jenna Coleman, who plays our beloved Time Lord’s companion Clara Oswald, Moffat later said that she had not been confirmed. Could this support rumors that she’s leaving after the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas special?

During a Q&A, Peter Capaldi also revealed that he was initially approached to audition for the part of the eighth Doctor for the 1996 Doctor Who movie (the role that ultimately went to Paul McGann), saying:

“But I turned down the opportunity. I loved it so much that I didn’t want to have the disappointment of going for something that I would never get.”

Are you guys happy to know that Capaldi will be back as the Twelfth Doctor for the ninth season of Doctor Who?
