Acclaimed South Korean filmmaker Chan-Wook Park has announced his next film — and it sounds like one heck of a cool sci-fi flick.
Park, best known for writing and directing 2003’s award-winning Oldboy, is cranking up development on his new flick, Second Born. According to Variety, the story takes place in a futuristic world in which neural microchip implants are used to store one’s consciousness, leading to black market body-swapping. The film is based on an original screenplay by David Jagernauth, which is a nice change of pace.
Park is one heck of a talented director, and we’re excited to think about what his hyper-stylized approach could do with this sci-fi pitch. The project will be one of the first productions for David Lancaster‘s new Rumble Films. Lancaster most recently served as a producer on Nightcrawler and Whiplash, so that’s not a bad reputation to carry into this film.
We don’t know much in regard to casting or the shooting timeline, but we’re looking forward to keeping an eye on this one as it evolves.
