Leaked Star Wars VII concept art descriptions reveal new ships, baddies and set pieces

Some new reports from the Star Wars: Episode VII production seem to reveal the visuals on some of J.J. Abrams’ super-secret concept art.

Take it with a heaping grain of salt, but Making Star Wars has gone live with descriptions of several different pieces of concept art. Not the art itself, mind you; just descriptions. Yeah, we know. But, if the concept art is legit, it seems to offer up a peek at a new baddie and some big action set pieces.

First up is a new baddie, which could be Adam Driver’s character, or someone else. We don’t know, because he’s apparently wearing a mask. Here’s an excerpt from the art description:

The helmet looks like a samurai helmet. If you took Shredder from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and removed all the ornate additions from the helmet, you could have something similar. The back is kind of like Vader’s helmet but it is short, it just protects the back of the head, leaving the neck exposed. The face is covered. But you can see the eyes. This costume is Darth Vader if he were a ninja. Where the eye holes are, there is some light colored design. It has a good vibe about it. It reminds me of Shredder, a little bit of someone from Cobra in the old G.I. Joe and he has a black flowing cloak and red lightsaber which makes it look very cool.

Another piece apparently shows off a mysterious new alien, though the concept art apparently provides no context as to who the character might be or what planet and setting he might inhabit:

The figure’s face is almost like General Grievous in spirit. White, skeletal, black eye sockets with little pin points or eyes. The mouth is almost like Jerry Lewis style buck teeth. Is it an apparatus?  But make no mistake, he’s scary! The face is totally white but its face looks like a mask, but it appears to be its skin, as its hands are the same color. The head is almost pointed but where a hair line would begin, there’s pointy wicker like brambles sticking straight up. The face is almost as if Satan made an army of Shy Guys from Super Mario Brothers and outfitted them with riffles.

Moving forward, the next piece shows off a classroom setting with a teacher tending to a room full of mostly alien students. It apparently has a Clone Wars-esque vibe, though there’s not much additional context about how it fits:

The first kid is a brown alien with long face. The second is a reptile of some sort with really big cute eyes. A child Selkath (canonized in The Clone Wars episode Pursuit of Peace)sits wearing a brown robe, quietly off to the side of the group. The next creature has a tiny head and something akin to Gungan ears, but he’s not one. He’s got a very tiny head and little pin points for eyes. The next alien I want to compare to an undeveloped Hammerhead. It looks like a young one but its head hasn’t grown wider yet. Another child alien with a starfish head looks on (looks like he’s part fish and part bird). One child raises his hand and he has a green shirt with a maroon toga over his shoulder. He looks like he’s something new but hes very Mon Cal in nature (he’s not one).

A kid with a diamond shaped head and yellow face paint appears to be bored. There’s a big kid, with a robes on and a little cap on. He might the same race as Droopy McCool. Below him a human girl with blond hair sits watching the teacher’s instructions. Another creature has a head kinda like E.T. in a way but his arms are like Sebulba’s and they have hoofs which touch the ground and help him walk. A blue alien with a camel face looks off to the side while a kid with a pink head that almost looks like its upside down as his mouth is on the top of his head, raises his hand at the teacher. Off to the side a spider kid with 8 eyes and a white hairy body looks worried.

Along with the new characters, there’s also a description for a new spacecraft that’ll allegedly be piloted by John Boyega’s character. According to the report, it’s a new-look version of the TIE fighter that is apparently quite spiffy:

The new Special Forces TIE Fighter is very much the same classic TIE Fighter from the front. But it is black. It isn’t a dull black either, it kind of a shiny black on the body, closer to Darth Vader’s shine than the classic dark TIE Fighter dull black paint. The wings are exactly the same as the TIE wings we’ve seen in the past. The distinguishing feature on these new TIEs is the red markings near the glass cockpit. It is painted red.  If the front of the TIE was a clock, two, three, and four o’clock are red on the right. On the left, eight, nine, and ten o’clock are red in that area. The same goes for the back of the fighter.

Last but not least: A new planet, which is apparently a forest world with trees reaching 100+ feet into the sky. According to the report, it’s somewhat of a “jungle planet” that will feature in the franchise’s return:

Imagine a planet with trees a hundred feet into the air. The trunks of the tress go straight up into the air as straight as a tree can, some are slightly off kilter just a bit. From there it creates a flat level of shrubbery a hundred feet into the sky. Each tree’s top connects to the other tree’s top. It mean very little light gets to the surface. From the ground, the sky looks like its just darkened and what you can see is full of green planet life. This is the jungle planet from Star Wars: Episode VII.This is what we believe the Puzzlewood shoot was standing in for here on planet Earth over the summer. This is where the Stormtroopers where filmed at that location. Back then we only heard of two Stormtroopers on set as did another reputable site and now we may know why. So what happens there?

So, do you think the concept art is legit? What do you make of these reported new additions?
