It’s hard to believe, but the iconic sci-fi horror flick Alien is now 35 years old. What better way to celebrate than with some of H.R. Giger’s original concept paintings for the iconic xenomorphs?
To commemorate the anniversary and a new Blu-ray release of the original film, 20th Century Fox has dug into the vault and release eight original pieces of concept art for what would eventually become one of the most famous creatures in cinema history.
There’s no denying the sheer terror of Giger’s style, and these shots show off the evolution of the xenomorph design, as well as the aesthetic that would come to define Ridley Scott’s breakout hit. Considering Scott is retiring the creatures for Prometheus 2, this might be the only Alien action we get for a long while (unless you're playing Alien: Isolation, that is).
