That Scarlett Johansson alien movie gets a U.S. release date

Under The Skin Scarlett Johansson

Remember that strange film in which Scarlett Johansson plays a seductive, literally man-eating alien? U.S. audiences will now finally get a chance to see it.

The Playlist reports that up-and-coming indie distribution company A24 has set an April 4 release date for Under the Skin, in which Johansson's extraterrestrial hottie finds herself wandering Scotland, picking up all-too-eager males and actually consuming them. Based on an acclaimed book by Michel Faber, the movie is adapted and directed by Jonathan Glazer (Sexy Beast).

The picture premiered last September to audiences and critics at film festivals in Venice, Telluride and Toronto, where its frankly experimental nature drew a mixed bag of reviews. Based on what we've seen in the trailer, it's almost sure to be the most unusual sci-fi film released in 2014.

The funny thing is that Scarlett will be competing against herself that weekend, since April 4 is also the release date for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, in which she plays the equally irresistible, yet much more human, Black Widow.

Which Scarlett Johansson will you be checking out on April 4 -- the butt-kicking S.H.I.E.L.D. agent or the sexually voracious temptress from the stars?
